Dimitar Bodurov

Bulgarian pianist/composer/producer Dimitar Bodurov (1979) has been residing in The Netherlands since 2000 where he graduated jazz piano and composition with cum laude. Having roots in both jazz improvisation and classical composition Bodurov established his artistic presence by integrating Bulgarian folklore in his music in a quite distinctive manner.

As a pianist Bodurov has been awarded several jazz prizes and is an author of 6 CD albums as a leader. Bodurov Trio’s Stamps from Bulagaria 2008 was selected as Top 10 Albums from the Netherlands for 2008 by the major Dutch journal Volkskrant. Bodurov has been giving concerts throughout Europe and has worked with musicians like Theodosii Spassov, Randy Brecker, Didier Lockwood.

As a composer Bodurov has written commissions for the Gergiev Festival (Rotterdam), Leine Roebana Dance group, Sofia Music Weeks International Festival,Musique Classique Amiens and his latest work Lilith - a music-theater piece by Claron McFadden premièred at the Holland Festival (Amsterdam). In 2011 Bodurov established Optomusic - a studio for audio recording and music production. Next to his activities as a performer and composer, Dimitar also is a event organizer of Jazz and Vino (concerts series) and Keys and Stix festival.
